Within the context of a rapidly changing world, the increasing frequency of graduate career mobility, and the rise of artificial intelligence, a compelling rationale for the vital importance of transversal skills in higher education emerges. However, questions regarding how to define, prioritise, develop, evaluate and evidence such skills, as well as the challenge of doing this within and across multiple disciplines, are both complex and multifaceted.

This conference, designed primarily for academics working in higher education, will examine these questions in depth, by drawing upon the insights, perspectives and first-hand experiences of national and international academics and educational policy makers. Highlighting DCU’s commitment to transversal skills, during the event attendees will have the opportunity to engage with this topic through practical, interactive workshops aimed at facilitating the process of integrating transversal skills into higher education curricula in an authentic and impactful manner. They will also have the opportunity to engage with senior policy makers from Ireland and Europe and discuss the future of higher education within the context of unprecedented social and technological change.
